FOUNTAIN SPRINGS - For the second year in a row, North Schuylkill Elementary School has been awarded a Youth Literacy grant through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

North Schuylkill received a $3,000 grant this year. In 2011, the school received its first grant of $5,000 from Dollar General.

"The Dollar General Literacy Foundation is pleased to support the literacy efforts of Doug Demsko, North Schuylkill Elementary librarian" Rick Dreiling, Dollar General's chairman and CEO, said in an announcement of the grant award. "The Youth Literacy grants are awarded annually at the start of the school year so that the funds are in place to have an impact on reading education and support."
